"If you start with a bang, you won't end with a whimper."
~ T.S Eliot
Share your talent and creativity by contributing to Art for Barks on-line journal. Still in its inception, our journal is an opportunity for you to educate, inform, inspire, and entertain with your work. And all while writing about something you love...dogs! We also feature cats, horses, and wildlife. Contributors will build their on-line platform, showcase their work, and obtain publishing credits. While we are currently unable to pay for accepted submissions to the journal, writers are recognized via their publicized biography, by-line, and photograph if desired.
Art for Barks literary journal is an ongoing project, so your queries or manuscripts are welcome year-round. You also must be a member in order to contribute. Become a member here. Submissions or queries with no contact information will not be reviewed, so don’t forget to include your name on your work!
Important: please pay attention to grammar, spelling, and syntax. Even with excellent content, submissions will be rejected based on poor-quality writing.
All submissions should be previously unpublished and sent in a .doc format. Educational or journalistic articles are being sought in the following general areas:
Articles of over 500 words should have a suggested subheading for every 250 words. We also accept creative prose, including short stories (2,400 words or less), humorous anecdotes, poetry (30 lines or less), cartoons and quotations. We encourage sending a photograph (.jpg) with your manuscript if it highlights the article theme.
In our digital magazine, many educational articles will be enhanced in their visual presentation via the inclusion of fine art images from our Fine Art Gallery Museum. Quality visual images allow us to give you additional literary exposure in social media.
Email queries or manuscripts to Ryan Standifird, Editor at firstname.lastname@example.org. Use the word "submissions" in the subject line.
Response time is from one to three months.
