Service and Rescue Dogs

WHO'S INVOLVED?

Artists who are very supportive of dogs, and other animals and enjoy participating in a Nonprofit endeavor. Our Art for Barks Fine Art Gallery Museum’s goal is to develop the best national and international collection of juried-level, high quality animal art in all styles and all mediums.

WHAT CATEGORY OF ART?

Initially our art focus will be on "dog" fine art. As soon as possible we will include cats, horses, and wildlife.

WHAT MEDIUMS OF ART?

The Fine Art Dog Gallery will represent all types of dog themed fine art, jewelry, unique arts & crafts and home décor.

WHAT SKILL OF ART?

All art will be "juried level", representing highly skilled artists throughout the country.

DO YOU PREFER REPRESENTATIONAL OR MODERN ART?

We will attempt to cover all styles of art in order to satisfy the tastes of our diverse community.

WHAT IS OUR FEE ARRANGEMENT?

Our mission is to support artists!  Due to our Nonprofit 501 (c)(3) status we cannot sell art on our website. At no cost to you we will show appealing images and description of your art in our Fine Art Gallery Museum and redirect purchasers back to your website, art gallery or reproduction house.

Artists may voluntarily become an Art for Barks Member and join our Nonprofit Mission to support Service Dogs, Rescue Animals, and participate in our free marketing programs to assist Animal Artists & Writers.

ARTIST SUBMISSIONS.

In order to submit your work for review, please send the following:

  1. An artist statement and professional resume.
  2. Email a maximum of three images in jpeg format to:
    artforbarks@gmail.com
  3. Provide a website link if one is available.
  4. Please give us 60 days for our art jury to review your work.
    If we have an interest in seeing more of your art, you will hear from us by phone or email.

  5. If you do not have a computer, send photos of your art to:

    When mailing materials:
    • If you need the art images back, please include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
    • Include an artist statement, professional resume, and address and telephone number.

It is important that our artists are able to meet our policies for shipping, customer service, timeliness and other requirements. Please review our Artist's Rights and Responsibilities section.

WHAT IS A FEATURED ARTIST?

Each category of art will have a "Featured Artist" for a variety of time periods. "Featured Artists" will have a special designation button on the website.

WILL ARTISTS STATEMENTS AND BIO’S BE ON THE WEB SITE?

Yes, when possible, we will provide interesting insights into the artist’s background, and artistic techniques, in the Fine Art Dog Gallery and in the Dog Art & Literary Journal. Our Journal articles will be disseminated throughout the web and traditional media.

WILL WE MARKET AND ADVERTIZE OUR ARTISTS?

Artists will be promoted on our website and in our Dog Art & Literary Journal. Each year we plan a large number of marketing events with dog and art organizations. Artist’s artwork will be used in special promotions, raffles and other fund raising events. When available, artist brochures will be distributed to the interested public.

WHAT IS A DONOR ARTIST?

Donor artists are strong supporters of our dog charities. They wish to be active members of our "artists and dog lovers community". Artists may donate their art for fundraising events, volunteer in our dog and art community events, share tutorials for our educational programs, or make a cash contribution to Art for Barks dog charities.

WHAT SUBCATEGORIES OF PAINTING?

Oil, acrylic, watercolor, illustration and digital art painting in a wide diversity of styles.

WHAT SUBCATEGORIES OF DRAWING?

Fine art drawings in graphite, pen & ink, pastels, and digital forms. Including traditional subject matter as well as cartoons and humorous art.

WHAT SUBCATEGORIES OF PHOTOGRAPHY?

Dog photos in color, black and white, as well as, digitally enhanced subject matter. Including photo journalistic stories about Service Dogs at work, and the Rescue of abandoned dogs.

WHAT TYPES OF SCULPTURE?

Small and medium size sculpture in all mediums.

WHAT TYPES OF JEWELRY?

Top quality jewelry with dog and animal subjects.

DO WE INCLUDE MIXED MEDIA ART?

Yes.

WHAT TYPES OF ARTS & CRAFTS?

Unique dog arts & craft projects in wood, metal, fiber arts and paper, including, fine art gift cards with good content or interesting quotations.

WHAT TYPE OF DIGITAL MEDIA?

Entertaining or educational videos and slides without advertising.

DO WE COLLABORATE WITH ARTISANS?

Yes. We want all of our fine arts and crafts to have an animal theme. We have small silver dog and animal images that can be attached to metal, exotic wood, lapidary jewelry and home and office décor.
